HELL IN A CELL, the flagship robotics combat competition of Helix. This high-intensity engineering showdown brings together innovative builders to compete inside a fully enclosed combat arena where robots battle for dominance.

Teams design and build combat robots equipped with powerful drive systems, defensive armor, and destructive weapon mechanisms. **Inside a 16 × 16 × 7 ft steel cage **arena, robots engage in strategic battles where durability, control, aggression, and engineering ingenuity determine victory.

Rules & Regulations

  • Team size: 2–5 members (inter-college teams allowed)
  • Robots must be wireless remote-controlled (no wired or autonomous robots)
  • Only electrical power allowed (maximum 36V DC)

Weight categories:

  • Lightweight : robot weight must be under 8 kg
  • Middleweight: robot weight must be under 15 kg

Control System

  • Robots must be wireless remote-controlled
  • Wired or autonomous robots are not allowed
  • ⁠Wireless systems should support channel switching to avoid interference

Power Systems

  • ⁠Robots must use electrical power sources only
  • ⁠Internal combustion engines are not allowed
  • ⁠Electrical voltage between any two points should not exceed 36V DC

Allowed mobility : wheels, tracks, rolling chassis, controlled jumping/hopping, legged systems

Restricted mobility : rocket/jet propulsion, suction-based systems

Allowed weapons: spinners, flippers, lifters, hammers, cutters, crushing mechanisms

Prohibited : liquid projectiles, flame weapons, RF jamming devices, unsafe systems

All robots must pass safety inspection before matches

⁠Judges’ decisions will be final

Shortlisting Criteria

  • No pre-shortlisting
  • Entry based on successful robot inspection and compliance with rules

Gameplay Format:

•⁠ ⁠Match duration: 3–4 minutes

•⁠ ⁠Win by immobilizing the opponent

•⁠ ⁠If both robots remain active, judged on aggression, damage, control, and strategy
